The Activist Diet

Support liver bile flow

During the digestion of food, the liver produces bile, which is transported to the gall bladder to refine it and then release it into the small intestine, where it emulsifies the fats. This process significantly increases the surface area and enables the fat-digesting enzymes of the small intestine to complete the digestive process. If the liver bile is slowed down, many digestive disturbances can occur.

Foods that decrease liver bile flow include;

  • Polyunsaturated oils (safflower, soybean, sunflower)
  • Fried foods, deep-fried foods
  • Milk fats (butter and cheese)
  • Nuts/Seeds
  • Baked meats/foods
  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Coconut oil

Foods that increase liver bile flow include;

  • Fruit (grapes, peaches, apricots, watermelon)
  • Apple sauce
  • Beets, artichokes, carrots, sweet potatoes
  • Sauteed leafy green vegetables
  • Green beans
  • Asparagus
  • Dandelion tea
  • Non-fat yogurt
