CMV - The Continual Illness

In December 2019, I attended a medical conference – I just love going to those and learning so much! During one of the lectures, an emergency department MD shared one of his latest findings: a virus known as Cytomegalovirus (CMV) was causing more of the infections he was seeing and urged the medical community to get prepared. Was he ever right?
History
The following year, 2020, I treated over thirty active CMV cases shortly after Covid came on the scene. Initially, treatment was a struggle, but eventually, the right treatments became evident, and patients recovered well. Fast forward to autumn 2023, and it started happening again. From October to December 2023, I evaluated and treated nearly two dozen CMV cases, and it appears the trend is going to continue. Fortunately, the treatments are readily available and respond quickly, even though CMV is more resistant than other viruses.
What is It?
Cytomegalovirus has been around for more than one hundred years. It is considered the mother of herpes, epstein-barr (mononucleosis), and chicken pox. Once contracted, it lives forever in the respiratory system as a dormant virus. It is estimated that more than 60% of the population have resident CMV, and once you have it, you never get rid of it. Recently, CMV was renamed as RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus), a virus that can produce respiratory chaos. But CMV is very unique in its behavior.
Since CMV has been a resident of human respiratory systems for multiple generations, we have evolved to adapt to its presence. Score one for humanity! CMV is usually activated by localized throat mucosal acidity, which can cause a low-grade strep infection. This is what typically enables CMV to become active–either by exposure to someone with CMV or by stimulating dormant CMV. In addition to causing the normal cold and respiratory symptoms, it can stay active in spells for weeks to months at a time. The primary identifying symptom of CMV is an illness that lasts a week or two, followed by a brief spell of relief/recovery, and then a return of the symptoms for another week or two. This cycle can continue for as long as three months. Because of our genetic conditioning, our bodies have essentially learned to live with CMV, considering it to be part of our existence. For this reason, it is very difficult to remove unless the proper treatments are applied.
My Recommendation
Diet: You already know this, but it bears repeating that diet is key to wellness! It is vital to avoid acidic foods that irritate the mucous membranes. Acidity breaks down the mucous membrane defenses against external irritants. Be sure to eliminate all citrus, sugar, honey, pepper, coffee, wine, vinegar, tomatoes and tomato products, and fruit juices. Ideally, you want to stay away from all concentrated foods that produce acidity in the digestive tract. This includes popcorn, chips, nuts, dairy, brown rice, wheat, gluten, and soy products. These forms of acidity get absorbed into the lymphatic system, increasing generalized acidity, which enables the virus to spread, thus prolonging cold symptoms.
Virus Nosode and Staph/Strep 30x, 60x: A homeopathic formula that stimulates the nervous system to recognize the virus and gear up to remove it. A Cold nose is needed when the infection is mostly in the throat and sinuses. Take 10 to 15 drops a day until an improvement is noted, then take a final dose of drops one week later.
Virus Nosode + Pneumonia Nosode: If the infection has moved into the lungs with congestion and coughing, then a homeopathic combination is required to assist the body in removing CMV. Take 10 to 15 drops a day until an improvement is noted, then take a final dose of drops one week later.
BioCarb: This supplement is a systemic alkalizer and your first line of defense! Virus hate alkalinity. If you’re in a pinch and don’t have any supplements and no BioCarb within reach, you can use Arm & Hammer Bicarbonate of Soda with water. Mix half a teaspoon of baking soda in six ounces of filtered water and sip slowly until finished. Dosage for the capsules: Take 3 BioCarb three times a day for three days, and then 2 BioCarb two times a day until symptoms improve.
Serrapeptase: This is a unique enzyme that dissolves foreign proteins (viral waste products) out of the lymph system. Take 2 capsules 3 times a day.
Daily Defense: You may know it as Cold Helper, it is now called Daily Defense – a perennial favorite and one of the most important supplements that I specifically created to treat cold flu and support the immune system. Daily Defense assists with removing the toxic cause of the infection and also removes lymphatic toxins. Take 1 Daily Defense 3 times a day until symptoms improve.
NewLiv: One of the most important aspects of healing is removing all of the infectious waste products from the body. NewLiv promotes toxin elimination. Take 3 NewLiv 2 times a day.
Beta-Carotene 25,000IU: This form of Vitamin A is essential for strengthening the mucous membranes and removing the irritation caused by an infection. Take 2 gel caps 3 times a day.
Collinsonia: If CMV has irritated the lungs, causing congestion and a productive cough, Collinsonia will assist in ‘drying out’ the lungs. Take an initial dose of 3 Collinsonia; then 2 capsules 3 times a day until cough symptoms improve.
* If you are treating children between the ages of 3 to 12…. They are usually just fine with the homeopathic, BioCarb, Daily Defense, Serrapeptase, & NewLiv at 1 capsule 3 times a day. If there are issues swallowing capsules, you can empty the contents of a capsule into applesauce and mix before giving it to kids.
* For very young children aged six months to 2 years, only the homeopathic is required. Call our office for further instructions.
When improvement has been noted, reduce all the pills to one capsule once a day. The Nosode drops should be taken one final time a week later to ensure the suppression and removal of active CMV.
Looking Ahead...
I have been treating patients for more than 50 years, and I am not sure if we will ever entirely remove CMV from our bodies. The good news is we can prevent its re-occurrence with proper diet and nutritional support provided by the supplements and remedies outlined above.
